RuBY – ADOPTED

Ruby is a tiny little shihtzu cross weighing in at 7 lbs, and about 1.5 years old.  Super sweet, and loving.  Loves kids, great with other dogs, and cats too.  She is a little timid but warms up quickly.  She needs a gentle home who can provide her with tons of love. She really hates having her photo taken so these are the best we could get.

Ruka

She will be spayed, vaccinated, tattooed, dewormed and flea treated. Her adoption fee is $395.

Suka

An adoption application and home visit is required. Ruby is currently in foster care in Chilliwack and approved adopters will need to go there to visit with her.

Please remember that these breeds of dogs requires regular grooming and daily brushing, if you are not prepared to provide this, please do not think of adopting a shaggy dog.

Please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application.

Elmo – ADOPTED

Elmo is a 3 year old Yorkie Terrier.  He is a little scared of strangers at first, and needs some time to get to know you before he will let you pick him up and hold him.  Once he knows you, he sure does like your lap!  He is a typical yorkie terrier, good with other dogs of all sizes, but gets a little grumpy when he doesn’t want to play or be sniffed.

Elmo

He is absolutely not good with children, and we will not consider homes with children for him.  He is housebroken, great on leash, and a super cutie pie.

He is neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed.  Elmo’s adoption fee is $395.  Elmo’s entire adoption fee will go into the Cookie Jar for Lego.

Please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application, home visits are required.

JuneBug – Adopted

JuneBug is 6 months old. A terrier of some sort. She weighs in at 16.4lbs right now so she will get larger than what she is already. We have no idea what mix she is so cannot guarantee her size when full grown. She is a sweet girl, needing some training, sensitive, and high energy. She loves to play, great with other dogs. We have yet to test her with kids, but she seems so happy go lucky.

JuneBug

She needs a little work on her housebreaking still, but would learn quickly. JuneBug would love to have a human who will be able to provide her with the exercise she needs to burn off her energy and give her the cuddles and love that she craves.

Her adoption fee is $450. She has been spayed, tattooed, vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated. $55 of her adoption fee will go into the Cookie Jar for special needs animals.

Please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application, home visits are required.

Riley – Adopted

Riley is a young Springer Spaniel.  He is still very puppy like and is now in a foster home to perfect the commands he already knows.  He is working on his leash manners, and his jumping up on people manners too.  He is a high energy dog, and loves to run and play.  He is great with other dogs, little and big. We have not tested him with cats.

RIley

He also needs an owner that will keep up and be consistent (as with all dogs big or small) with the common rules. We would prefer that he went to a home without small children as he does jump up and he is not exactly small. His new human will need to be quick with corrections for this issue.

Riley’s adoption fee is $450. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. $55 will be going into the Cookie Jar for animals that need special vetting.

Please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application, home visits are mandatory.

Joni (aka Jodie) – ADOPTED!

Joni and her sister Jolene came into the rescue about 3 months ago.  Jolene found a home very quickly.  Joni broke her leg, and needed to have surgery to repair it.  So she stayed with us until she was all healed up and ready to run again.

Joni and Jolene are so similar in looks and personality.  They are Chihuahua x Schipperke.  Joni is about 10 months old now, and full of energy after being confined during her healing time.  She is now housebroken, and listens very well.  Her fear of humans has lessened so much it is like she is a totally different dog then when she first came in.

DSC07137

She is a super fast runner, and she loves to play with the other dogs.  She is fine with cats too.  She would prefer a home without young children as she is still somewhat fearful of quick movements.  She needs a ton of chew toys cause that is one of her favorite things to do.  She herds her human as the Schipperke does and loves to cuddle like a chihuahua.

DSC07034

Joni has been spayed, dewormed, revolutioned and fully vaccinated.  Her leg has completely healed and the pins have been removed.  Joni’s adoption fee is $495.  If you have questions or would like to receive an application to adopt her, please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca

Max – ADOPTED

Max is a sweet boy of 7 years.  He is a shihtzu, weighing in at 15lbs. It is sad when a family decides to give up a family member after so many years.  Max is a little confused, as he ended up in a local shelter before coming into our rescue.

Max

He is very quiet so far, and very well behaved.  All he wants is to be coddled, however we have decided to teach him how to be independent. He is fine when left alone during the day, and is getting used to sleeping in a crate, even though he doesn’t need to be, as he is fully housebroken.

He is very mellow, and laid back.  He would probably really enjoy a quiet home where he can relax and lounge around, or he would be fine with another doggie companion too.  He gets along great with other dogs, and with cats.  We are still needing to test him with children though.  So for now, we can’t say if he is OK with them or not.

Max is not impressed

Max is neutered and tattooed.  He is up to date with his vaccines and he has been dewormed and flea treated.
Max’s adoption fee is $195.  An adoption application and home visit is required.  Please email for an adoption application at dhanametta@yahoo.ca

Marshall – ADOPTED

Update on Marshall – July 23, 2009

Marshall has found a foster home and has been doing extremely well there.  He is as soft as I thought he was, cuddly, and affectionate.  Still a little nervous of strangers, but adapting very well to a home with way less dogs than here at the rescue.

He is still however, waiting for his forever human.  One that can be patient, understanding, and experienced with rescue chihuahuas.  He should not be in a home with children, but loves other dogs.

__________________________________________________________________

He was picked up on the streets of California as a stray.  Nobody ever came to claim him.  He was put on the red list – and given 3 days to be adopted.  His time was almost up, and was pulled by another rescue just in the nick of time.

Fidel

He was sent to our rescue here in Vancouver, and is ready for his forever home.  He is very skinny, and sure could stand to gain a few pounds.  He is tiny, about 4lbs right now.  He has been a perfect gentleman with all the other dogs here, and ignores Bob the cat.  However, when someone new comes over, it takes him some time to assess this new person before he decides to accept them.  NO CHILDREN.

He sure is a real sweetie, and he gives me those I love you eyes, like most chihuahuas do.  He really does like to cuddle (once he deems you suitable for him).  He is crate trained, and likes to go there to sleep.  He doesn’t cry or scream once in his crate, but feels very comfortable.  If you are that forever human that Sidekick has been waiting for, please email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application.  Home visits are required.

Fidel aka MarshallMarshall’s  adoption fee is $295, he has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated.

Montgomery (formerly known as T-Bone) – ADOPTED

Yes we know, we keep changing his name, but really T-Bone was an AWFUL name, and then we tried out Jar Jar, still not what we were looking for, but Gail mentioned Montgomery, Monty for short, and you know what…that is the best so far!!  Let’s keep it!

Monty is a beautiful 2 year old purebred dapple Doxie.  He is neutered, vaccinated and has gone through extensive training with The Fox and Her Hounds.

T-Bone

Monty  would make a wonderful companion.  He knows his commands.  He is also completely house broken. He doesn’t like cats, and he can be a dominant weenie with other dogs.  He needs a family that will take leadership and guide Monty with discipline and love.

T-Bone

Monty would prefer a home without small children.  We would like to find a family that will continue to be consistent with his training, but one who also has a ton of love to give him.  His adoption fee $295.  An adoption application and home visit is required.

Please contact us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application.

Stewart – Adopted

Stewart is a 2 year old Shihtzu Bichon Cross.  He is a little higher energy and smaller than Bongo, and more light hearted in his play. When he gets overly excited he nips your hands, but that is all a matter of explaining to him what is OK and what is not.  He walks great on leash, is confident in himself, house broken, crate trained, and has just a tiny bit of separation anxiety.

Stewart

We were told that Stewart was not good with kids, however we have not had the chance to test him with any.  Because of this, we hope to find a home with older children only.  Stewart is currently in a foster home and his foster dad thinks he’s sweet!  If you are interested in adopting Stewart, please email us for an application at dhanametta@yahoo.caHOME VISITS ARE REQUIRED.

Stewarts adoption fee is $395, he has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated.  ($100 of Stewart’s adoption fee will go towards Ella’s surgery fund – see older posts for more info on Ella)

Little Ella – ADOPTED

UPDATE ON ELLA

We didn’t have much luck raising the money needed for Ella’s surgery.  We only reached a total of approximately $700.  Time was running out.  Ever since Ella came into our care, one of the surgeons at Canada West was very interested in her.  We had many discussions, and their family also had many discussions.

Their family had always wanted a dog, but were concerned about allergies, so we decided to let them take Ella home to see how things went.  Needless to say, things went wonderfully and they decided to adopt Ella.

The great part about the surgeon adopting Ella was that she would get her surgery, even though we had only raised $700. She got her surgery and she got her forever home.

We thank all those that contributed to Ella’s cause, the foster families that cared for her in the interm, all the selfless folks that were interested in adopting her, and we give a huge thank you to the folks at Canada West Veterinary Specialists.
