STUMPY – ADOPTED!!!

Stumpy was the shortest and smallest of his siblings.  And he is the only one left.  He is a standard Rat Terrier.  He is 10 weeks old.  His mom was rescued from a high kill shelter in Louisiana and got a chance to have her babies in a loving home.  She has found herself a wonderful place to live out her life, and now her littlest one needs a place to be too.

We urge all interested parties to DO THEIR RESEARCH on RAT TERRIERS and their personalities  They are High Energy dogs, and are very tenacious.  The family that wants to make Stumpy their pal must have enough time to exercise him and give him enough stimulation during his days.

DSC06403

We wlll accept applications for Stumpy and out of those applications we will choose the best matches to do home visits with.  We are sorry that sometimes we cannot do home visits with every applicant.

Stumpy’s adoption fee is $495 including his neuter, tattoo, deworming, all 3 sets of vaccines, and flea treatment. If you are interested in adopting Stumpy, please email us for an adoption application. Home visits are mandatory. Serious Inquiries only please.

Education about Puppymills

I post this video to hopefully educate Belinda on what puppy mills are all about.  If you think confiscating these dogs is actually “stealing them from their owners”, you have a strange way of “loving dogs”.  Do you APPROVE of the conditions in which dogs are kept at PuppyMills and BYB’S??

BELINDA’S  COMMENT (today) :

It sounds as though you are trying to raise money and promoting an illegal theft of dogs that are raised in conditions of which you disapprove. Then, later apparently you plan to remove these stolen dogs not just across state lines, but across international borders? Please, rethink this madness, it is nothing short of domestic terrorism. If you love dogs, donate to your local shelter, or -better yet- donate some of your time to help take care of those local dogs that need you. Please don’t take part in this latest trend of stealing dogs from their owners with publicity so that new, horrible laws are promoted that will end our lives with dogs as we know it; Oprah and Wayne have no love for animals, they only lust for power and control over your choices!

Those who know us and have visited us, get to see for themselves our true love for dogs.  The many adopters who have been to our place to meet and pick up their new family members are those who understand us the best.

BE SURE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO WATCH THIS VIDEO AS IT IS A HALF AN HOUR.

B-Boy Update!!

Check out how great B-Boy is doing!!  Ah, our happy little buddy is even happier now with his fabulous new parents, and a great new UBER Cart!!!

Quasi has her name!!

This tiny 7 week old Shihtzu Puppy was literally discarded like her life was worth nothing, at a mall in Northern BC. My friend saw this “breeder” take the pups into the pet store. She followed out of curiosity. As she listened to the discussion between the store owner and the breeder, the owner said “That one is deformed, I don’t want it, no one would ever pay for a deformed puppy.”

The breeder did something my friend couldn’t believe. Right there in the store she said “Free puppy, who wants it?”

Lucky for this little baby, my friend answered first. “I’ll take her.” And that’s the story of how she came to our rescue.

And yes, she has a birth defect, but I wouldn’t say she is deformed. She is the most adorable little 1.8lb puppy, and as sweet as can be. We are asking for help to get her fully checked out at Can West to see what her future holds.

The vet today said that she has Wry Mouth: wry bite or wry mouth-a skeletal defect where the midline of the maxilla does not line up with the midline of the mandible.

Okay, so her nose is crooked, it’s way off to her right side, doesn’t make her ugly. Yes, she is looking pretty much straight ahead. Her teeth don’t align up, which could be an issue when her adult teeth start coming in. We will see what the specialists have to say.

We are hoping that the pet loving community will help us raise approximately $2500 for Quasi.  If 125 generous people donated only $20 each – we would have enough to fund her future surgery.

Princess is Going Home

I write this with tears in my eyes, we say goodbye to our sweet little Princess after such a short time.

Her owners have had a change of heart, and are willing to give Princess the necessary vet care and love that she so deserves.

They have expressed to me that they felt pressured by the rest of the family to have her euthanized, and the vet they were seeing at the time said that Princess had no hope.

A second opinion has instilled a new positive outlook for their family, and I am happy that we were able to help them come to this decision.

We will continue to give advice in regards to how they can get a K-9 cart that works for Princess and have left all doors open.

We would like to thank all those who have supported Princess during this journey.

Princess

Princess came to us this past Sunday.  Semi-paralyzed.  7 months ago, her owners had dropped her off at the groomers, when they went to pick her up, she had obviously been injured somehow. The groomers however did not divulge any information on how this had happened.

After many x-rays and steroidal medications, Princess did not improve.  The owners were at a loss.  She has now been surrendered into our care.  We hope to raise enough funds to have an MRI done at Can West Veterinary Specialists – this unfortunately will run a bill of $2000.

Our first step is to have her examined by the neurologist a $230 cost.

Princess is such a sweetheart, quiet and laid back.  Accepting her disability, we hope to help her in more ways than one.  Her fine motor skills are lacking, but her gross motor skills are still functioning very well.

If you would like to help Princess on her road to a better life, donations will be graciously accepted and very appreciated.  You can send your donations to:

Dhana Metta Rescue Society #235 – 2607 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC, V5R 5H4

OR

An account has been established for her at Can West, and donations can be made directly with the clinic on behalf of Princess.

We hope that Princess will find a compassionate, accepting, understanding forever home in the near future, we will keep you all updated on her progress and her adoption status.

California Dogs

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone for your support. All three little guys have been adopted are now in wonderful new forever homes.

We are still looking for foster homes for small dogs and puppies, if you are interested, please email info@the greenroompetlounge.com and we will send you a Foster Application.

California had some nasty wild fires this year, and it is a really sad time when people all over the US are forced to sell their homes or are losing their homes due to the high interest rates on mortgages.

The shelters are filling up. And time for each dog runs out very quickly. We hope that in the next few months, we can at least save some of them, and find new wonderful homes! Each of the dogs for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, first & second vaccinations, dewormed, flea controlled. A 6 week Insurance Plan compliments of PetPlan Insurance.

BOODA the brindle chihuahua, he is so timid and scared, but sweet as can be:

A never-ending thank you to those who transport, and spend all their time saving these beautiful babies!!

If you are interested in adopting, please contact us for an adoption application. A home visit is mandatory after the application has been reviewed. Please remember that we try to choose the best home for each individual doggie personality, submitting an application does not guarantee that you will receive the dog dog you saw.
